Single Speed vs Gears

Friday we both made it out for a mountain bike ride. I had been riding my shifty bike lately and decided to stick with that. Sara? She went with the single speed. Geeeeeeez. Make me look bad would ya? I hoped I we didn't see anyone we knew. To start I joked we should go right up Lone Wolf. She didn't think that was funny. We opted to go up Love to Roller Coaster. For someone who doesn't get out on a mountain bike as much as she would like she was flying up Love like a Spanish climber in the Alps. It also verified to me that I don't climb as fast with gears compared to without. After roller coaster we rolled down Grotpeter.

Next trick? Climb Lone Wolf. We started at the base side by side. She road the whole thing on her single speed. 32-19 gearing on a 29 inch for those interested. She beat me to the top of the double track. By a lot. I'm not ashamed to admit it. But I then managed to pass her on the second part of the climb before heading down the back side twisty stuff.

After that we did another climb up Love and down Grotpeter without hitting Roller Coaster. Just under an hour all told. It was a good day.
